One thing I learned during my time at Seattle City Light:
A project doesn't necessarily need more meetings. Sometimes it just needs better visibility.
While supporting a cross-functional pilot, I worked with teams managing risks, dependencies, action items, and deadlines across different workstreams.
One small change that made a big difference was moving project tracking from a static Excel-based process into Asana. It became much easier to see:
- what was still open
- who owned it
- what was blocking progress
- and what actually needed attention in meetings
It reminded me that good project management isn't about adding more process.
It's about creating enough structure that the team can focus on the work that matters.
